Kawasaki Z 900 (1976)

The Kawasaki Z 900 motorcycle was produced in 1976 and featured a four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder engine with dual overhead camshafts and two valves per cylinder. With a capacity of 903cc, the engine had a bore and stroke of 66x66mm and was air-cooled with a compression ratio of 8.5:1. The lubrication was a wet sump with a trachoid pump, and the air filtration used treated synthetic fiber. The induction involved four 26mm Mikuni VM26SS carburetors, and the ignition was a mechanical breaker dual lead coil. The motorcycle had electric starting and produced a maximum power of 81hp at 8500rpm and a maximum torque of 73.5Nm at 7000rpm. It had a wet, multi-plate clutch and a five-speed transmission with a chain final drive and straight cut gears. The frame was a double tubular steel cradle, and the suspension included 36mm telescopic forks at the front and dual shocks with five-way preload adjustment at the rear. The front brakes were two 296mm discs, while the rear brakes were a 200mm drum. The motorcycle had a top speed of 120mph and achieved acceleration times of 0-30mph in 2.1 seconds and 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds. Other features included a 18-liter fuel capacity, consumption average of 48 mpg, and dimensions of 2209.8mm length, 1498.6mm wheelbase, 812.8mm seat height, and 230kg dry weight.
