Kawasaki KR-1 (1988)

The Kawasaki KR-1 is a 1988 motorcycle with a two-stroke, parallel twin cylinder engine and a capacity of 249 cc. It has a compression ratio of 7.4:1, with 2x 28mm Keihin PWK induction and a capacitor discharge ignition. The bike has a maximum power output of 55 hp / 41.0 kW @ 10500 rpm and a maximum torque of 3.75 kgf-m / 27.1 lb-ft @ 10500 rpm. It is equipped with a 6-speed transmission and a chain final drive. The front suspension consists of 41mm stanchions, air-assisted telescopic fork with unstopped preload adjustment, while the rear suspension is a bottom link Uni-Trak with air adjustable gas shock, unstopped preload, and four-way rebound damping. The Kawasaki KR-1 features 2x discs 4 piston calipers on the front brakes and a single disc 2 piston caliper on the rear brakes. The bike has a wheelbase of 1365 mm / 53.7 in, a seat height of 855 mm / 29.7 in, and weighs 123 kg / 271 lbs when dry. The fuel capacity of the bike is 16 Litres / 4.2 US gal. In a 1987 Bike magazine Group test, the Kawasaki KR1 was compared to the Suzuki RGV250 and Yamaha TZR250.
