Kawasaki GPz900R Ninja (1986-88)

The Kawasaki GPz900R Ninja/ZX900 Ninja was a popular motorcycle produced from 1986-1988. It was a four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder, DOHC engine with a capacity of 908cc/55.4 cu-in, and had a compression ratio of 11.0:1 with battery ignition. It had a maximum power of 115 hp/86 kW at 9500 rpm and a maximum torque of 8.7 kgf-m/63 lb-ft at 8500 rpm. The motorcycle had a six-speed transmission, chain final drive, and a double-cradle iron frame. The suspension was front 39mm telehydraulic forks air assisted and rear rising rate link-system with a single shock adjustable preload by air pressure and four-stage rebound-damping. The front brakes featured 2x 280mm discs with one-piston calipers and the rear brake had a single 270mm disc with one-piston caliper. The GPz900R Ninja had a seat height of 760 mm/29.9 in, dry weight of 228 kg/502 lbs, and fuel capacity of 22 liters/5.8 US gal. It had an average fuel consumption of 40.8 mpg and a top speed of 247.8 km/h or 154 mph. The motorcycle was included in a 1985 bike group test motosprint group test.
