The Kawasaki GPz 1000RX was a 1987 motorcycle model with a transverse four-cylinder, 997cc engine and four valves per cylinder. The bike was liquid-cooled and had a compression ratio of 10.2:1. Its maximum power was 125 horsepower at 9500 rpm, but it reached 116.2 horsepower at 9750 rpm at the rear tire. The maximum torque was 10.1 kgf-m at 8500 rpm. The GPz 1000RX had a six-speed transmission with wet, multiple-disc clutch and cable operation. Its final drive was a chain, while its frame was steel twin spar. The motorcycle had 40mm telescopic forks with air assistance and AVDS on its front suspension and Uni-Trak rising-rate with adjustable rebound damping on its rear suspension. The front brakes used two 280mm discs and one-piston calipers, while the rear brake had a single 260mm disc and one-piston caliper. The bike had 120/80-16 front tires and 150/80-16 rear tires, with a seat height of 790mm. It weighed 238kg dry and 267kg wet, with a fuel capacity of 21 liters. The motorcycle was tested by Motosprint in 1987 and had a top speed of 255.5km/h and a braking performance of 13.4m from 60-0 km/h and 39.1m from 100-0 km/h. Its standing quarter-mile time was 10.7 seconds with a top speed of 206.8 km/h.
