Kawasaki EX500 Ninja (1998-00)

The Kawasaki GPz 500S/EX 500R Ninja motorcycle was produced from 1998 – 00 and featured a four-stroke, parallel-twin cylinder engine with DOHC and 4 valves per cylinder. The engine had a capacity of 498 cc / 30.4 cu-in with a 10.8:1 compression ratio and used semi-synthetic 10W/40 oil. The bike had 2x Keihin CVK34 carburetors and an electric starting system with a maximum power output of 60 hp / 43.7 kW @ 9800 rpm and maximum torque of 46.1 Nm / 4.7 kg-m @ 8500 rpm. The engine was cooled with a liquid cooling system and had a wet sump lubrication.

The clutch system was wet, multiple discs that were cable operated and the transmission had 6-speed gears with a final drive chain. The bike had a double cradle frame made of iron and featured front suspension with 38mm telescopic forks with a front wheel travel of 130mm / 5.1in. The rear suspension was a swinging arm with a single shock adjustable for spring preload and had a rear wheel travel of 100mm / 3.9in. The front brakes were a single 270mm disc with a 2 piston caliper while the rear brakes were a single disc. The bike had a trail of 91mm / 3.5in and a rake of 63 degrees.

The bike had a length of 2095mm / 82.4in, a width of 700mm / 30.3in, and a height of 1160mm / 45.6in with a wheelbase of 1435mm / 56.4in and a seat height of 775mm / 30.5in. The dry weight of the bike was 176 kg / 388 lbs with a fuel capacity of 15.9 Litres / 4.2 US gal. The Kawasaki GPz 500S/EX 500R Ninja motorcycle was tested by Motosprint and Tuttomoto in 1994.
