The Honda XR 230 Motard was manufactured in 2005 and 2006. It has a four-stroke, single-cylinder OHC engine with a capacity of 223cc. The bore and stroke of the engine are 65.5 x 66.2mm, respectively, and the compression ratio is 9.0:1. The bike is air-cooled and uses a dry sump lubrication system. Carburettor VE3AF induction and CDI ignition start it up. Its maximum power is 18 hp at 7500 rpm and maximum torque is 1.9 kgf-m at 6000 rpm, while its clutch is a wet, multiplate system and it has a six-speed transmission. The swinging arm supports the telescopic fork front suspension, and there is a single disc, two-piston caliper brake system in the front of the bike and a single disc brake in the rear. The bike runs on 110/70-17 front tires and 130/70-17 rear tires with a 26-degree rake and 103 mm (4.1 in) trail. It has an 805mm (31.7 in) seat height, 245 mm (9.6 in) ground clearance, and a dry weight of 122 kg (269 lbs). Its fuel capacity is 8.7 litres (2.3 US gal).
