The Honda XL600R Paris Dakar motorcycle was first released in 1985. It features a single-cylinder engine with a capacity of 589cc and a compression ratio of 9.0:1. Induction is through 2 x 28mm piston valves, and the bike starts via primary kick with automatic compression release. The XL600R can put out a maximum power of 33 kW at 6500 rpm and a maximum torque of 48.8 Nm at 5000 rpm. The bike has a 5-speed transmission and a final drive chain. The front suspension consists of 39mm Showa air-adjustable leading-axle forks with dual Syntallic bushings, while the rear suspension is a Pro-link with adjustable rebound damping. The XL600R weighs in at 134 kg when dry and 145 kg when wet, while the fuel capacity is 12 litres. Fuel consumption averages 46.2 mpg, and the bike has a top speed of 100 mph. Other features of note include a single 240mm disc and 2-piston calliper in the front brakes, a 140mm drum rear brake, front and rear tyres measuring 3.00-21 and 5.10-17, respectively, a wheelbase of 1420mm and a seat height of 860mm. Lastly, it can cover a quarter-mile distance when standing within 14 seconds at a maximum speed of 90 miles per hour.
