The Honda CBX550 was produced from 1984-86 and had a four stroke, transverse four cylinder engine with a capacity of 572cc. It had a maximum power of 65hp at 10000 rpm and a maximum torque of 49Nm at 8000 rpm. The bike had a high compression ratio of 9.5:1, with induction from four 30mm Keihin CV carburettors and transistorized ignition. The transmission had six speeds and a final drive chain. The bike’s frame was a duplex cradle tubular steel design and it had air-assisted telescopic forks with anti-dive in the front suspension, and pro-link air-assisted shocks in the rear suspension. The front brakes consisted of 2x 230mm discs with a two-piston caliper, while the rear brake had a single 230mm disc. The front tyre was a 3.60-18, and the rear tyre was a 4.10-18. The bike had a length of 2085mm, a width of 740mm and a height of 1080mm, with a wheelbase of 1380mm and a seat height of 785mm. The dry weight was 184kg and the fuel capacity was 17 litres.
