Honda CBR900RR Fireblade (1992)

The Honda CBR900RR Fireblade (1992) is a four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder motorcycle with 893cc capacity and 122 horsepower at 10500rpm. It has a liquid cooling system, wet sump lubrication, and a 4 into 2 into 1 exhaust system. The ignition is electronically triggered, and the clutch is wet with multiple discs, cable operated. The bike features a six-speed transmission and a chain, 108 links final drive. It has an all-aluminum twin-spar frame with a heavily braced aluminum swingarm, 45mm Showa cartridge front suspension and Pro-Link rear suspension with one Showa damper, wheel travel, and adjustments for spring, preload, rebound damping, and compression damping. The bike’s front brakes are two 296mm discs 4 piston calipers, while the rear brake is a single 220mm disc 1 piston caliper. The Fireblade has a wheelbase of 1405mm, a seat height of 810mm, and weighs 185kg dry, 206kg wet. Fuel capacity is 18 litres, average consumption is 6.4l/100km, and the bike can reach a top speed of 264km/h. The Fireblade was designed by Tadao Baba, who broke new ground with its power and weight, decimating sportsbike competition with its agile handling and over-capacity motor. The name of the bike came about after a mistranslation of its intended name of Lightning.

Overview 1992 1993 Designed by Tadao Baba, the first Fireblade broke new ground in terms of power and weight, decimating the 750cc sportsbike opposition with its agile handling and over-capacity motor. c In 1989, Honda tested both a 749cc and 893cc Blade prototype. c Baba insisted on using conventional and not inverted forks as they were lighter, so he designed a set ofconventional forks that looked like upside-down ones. c Honda claimed the controversial 16in front wheel (130/70 ZR16) was a weight-saving feature. c The drilled fairing and cowl were claimed to aid aerodynamics and further reduce weight. c The Fire Blade name came about after a mistranslation of its intended name of Lightning. :
