Honda CB 700 Nighthawk S (1984-86)

The Honda CB 700SC Nighthawk S was produced from 1984 to 1986 and had a four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 696cc. It was air-cooled, had a compression ratio of 9.3:1, and was fitted with 4x 34mm Keihin carburetors. The bike was capable of producing 80hp and 45 ft-lb of torque, with a top speed of 146mph. The transmission had six speeds, and the final drive was through a shaft. The frame was a double-downtube, full-cradle frame with a tube/box-section steel swingarm. The front suspension had a 38mm Kayaba Center-axle, air-adjustable fork with tubes, anti-dive valving and 6.3 in. (160mm) of travel, and the rear suspension had dual Kayaba shock absorbers, adjustable for spring preload and rebound damping, producing 4.7 in. (120mm) of rear-wheel travel. The front brakes were 2x 276mm discs with a 2-piston caliper, and the rear brake was a 180mm drum. The bike had a fuel capacity of 16 litres and a consumption average of 49 mpg. The standing 1/4 mile was achieved in 12.0 sec at 110.5 mph. The bike was 2150mm in length, 780mm in width, and had a wheelbase of 1501mm.
