Harley Davidson FXSTB/I Softail Night Train (1999-01)

The Harley Davidson FXSTB/I Softail Night Train motorcycle was produced from 1999 to 2001. It had a four-stroke, 45 degree V-twin, Twin Cam 88 engine with a capacity of 1449 cc and a compression ratio of 8.9:1. The engine was cooled by air and had pushrod-operated overhead valves with hydraulic self-adjusting lifters and two valves per cylinder. The exhaust was staggered shorty duals and the lubrication system was dry sump with a crank driven gerotor pressure and dual scavenge pump with spin-on pressurised oil filter. The bike had a carburetion 40 mm constant velocity with enrichener and accelerator pump ESPFI 38 mm throttle bore electronic sequential port fuel injection and single-fire, non-wasted, map-controlled spark ignition. The transmission was five-speed, and the final drive was through a belt. The frame was made of mild steel, with rectangular section backbone with twin downtubes and the swing arm was tubular mild steel. The bike had a front suspension of 41.3 mm telescopic, beer can covers and a hidden, horizontal-mounted, coil-over shock rear suspension. The front brakes had a single 292mm disc 2 piston caliper, and the rear brakes were the same. The front tyre was MH90-21 54H, and the rear tyre was 150/80B 16 71H. The bike had a rake of 33.5 degrees and a trail of 127 mm/5.0 in. The dimensions were length 2413.0 mm/ 95.0 in, wheelbase 1699.3 mm/ 66.9 in, seat height of 640.1 mm/25.2 in when laden and 680.7 mm/26.8 in when unladen, ground clearance of 142 mm/5.6 in, dry weight of 286 kg/630 lbs and a wet weight of 306 kg/673 lbs.
