The BSA A65 Firebird Scrambler and Firebird SS were produced between 1968 and 1971. These motorcycles had a four-stroke, parallel twin, OHV engine with a capacity of 654 cc and a bore and stroke ratio of 75 x 74 mm. The bike also featured twin Amal monobloc 389/67 carburetors, high-level chrome exhaust, and twin coil Lucas 4CA ignition. The starting was done with kick start and the bike had a two 12V, 10 a.h. Lucas RM19 battery. The bike had a maximum power of 38 hp at 5800 rpm in 1968 and 49 hp at 7000 rpm in 1970. The BSA A65 Firebird Scrambler and Firebird SS had a multi-plate, wet clutch, and a 4-speed transmission with a final drive chain. It had steel tubing cradle, telescopic forks with coil spring-hydraulically damped, swing arm rear suspension with coil springs/hydraulically damped, and steel wire-spoked wheels. The front brakes were 20.32 cm/8 in. drum SLS, and the rear brakes were 17.78 cm/7 in. drum SLS. The BSA A65 Firebird Scrambler and Firebird SS had a wet weight of 184 kg/406 lbs and a top speed of 169 km/h and 105 mph. The fuel capacity of this bike was 18 L/4.8 US gal in Europe and 9 L/2.4 US gal in the US.
