The BMW R80GS Paris Dakar motorcycle was produced in 1980 and prepared by HPN. It has a four stroke, two cylinder horizontally opposed engine with a capacity of 798cc and a compression ratio of 9.3:1. The motorcycle has both electric and kick starting methods and can produce a maximum power of 41kW at 7000 rpm. The transmission includes five speeds and the suspension includes Maico forks in the front and Bielstein shocks in the back for wheel travel of 270mm and 170mm respectively. The front brake is a 160mm disc and the rear brake is a 160mm drum. The front and rear tires are 3.50 – 21″ and 4.50 – 18″ respectively, with a dry weight of 160kg and a fuel capacity of 38 L.
