BMW R100GS (1987)

The BMW R100GS was a motorcycle first introduced in 1987. It was considered a dual-sport or adventure bike, designed to handle both on-road and off-road terrain. It had a 980 cc air-cooled, four-stroke engine with dual Bing carburetors that produced 60 horsepower and 54 lb-ft of torque. The R100GS had a top speed of 107 mph and could go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds.

The motorcycle had a number of features that made it suitable for adventure riding, including a long-travel suspension, a high ground clearance, and a large fuel tank that could hold up to 30 liters. It also had a comfortable seat and optional heated grips, making it suitable for long rides in cold weather.

The R100GS was built to be durable and reliable, with a sturdy steel frame and robust components. It was equipped with shaft drive, which required less maintenance than a chain drive, and had a reputation for being a workhorse that could handle whatever conditions it encountered on the road or trail.

While the R100GS was discontinued in the early 1990s, it remains a popular motorcycle among adventure riders and enthusiasts. Its classic design, rugged build, and dependable performance have made it a sought-after model for collectors and riders alike.
