The BMW C1 125 was a unique motorbike released in 2000 that was designed to appeal to urban commuters. Unlike most motorbikes, the C1 125 featured a sturdy frame that provided additional protection to the rider. The vehicle was also equipped with a roof, seat belts, and a windshield, adding even more safety features.
The roof presented challenges in terms of storage space and the windshield could fog up due to lack of airflow, but most riders found these minor issues and were pleased with the C1 125. This was reflected in its strong sales figures in Europe.
Despite its unique design, the C1 125 was powered by a standard 125cc engine which offered a decent amount of power and a top speed of around 68 mph. It also featured ABS and heated grips, making it a comfortable ride in all conditions.
Around 10,000 C1 125 models were produced between 2000 and 2002, and while the vehicle was not a commercial success in the long-term, it did showcase BMW’s ability to think outside the box and create innovative solutions for urban commuters.
