AJS MODEL 30 600 (1945-66)

The AJS Model 30 600 motorcycle was produced from 1945 to 1966, featuring a single cylinder, 2 valve per cylinder, pushrod OHV engine with a capacity of 498 c/30.4 cu in. The compression ratio varied from 6.90:1 – 7.24:1 depending on the presence of a compression plate. It had a dry sump lubrication system with a 2.3 L/4.8 US pt oil capacity and used a carburetor type 89B/IAK for induction. Ignition was provided by a Lucas magneto, and it had a kick-start mechanism. It produced a maximum power output of 20.9 kW/28 hp at 5600 rpm and used a 4-speed, Burman gearbox transmission. The motorcycle had a front hydraulic telescopic fork and a rear swinging arm suspension with dual shocks. The front and rear brakes were both drums, and the AJS Model 30 600 used steel wheels with wire spokes. The bike had a wheelbase of 1400 mm/55 in and a seat height of 760 mm/30 in. The standard rigid frame weighed 15660 kg/353 lbs, the spring frame weighed 175 kg/386 lbs, and the competition rigid frame weighed 137 kg/303 lbs. Fuel capacity was 13 L/4.23.4 US gal for the rigid and spring frame models and 10.2 L/2.7 US gal for the competition model.
