Kawasaki KLR 600 (1984-85)

The Kawasaki KLR 600 is a four-stroke, single cylinder, DOHC, 4-valve motorcycle with a capacity of 564 cc. It has a liquid-cooled cooling system, 40mm Keihin CV carburetor induction, CDI ignition, and kick starting. It produces a max power of 42 hp at 7000 rpm and a max torque of 4.7 kgf-m at 5500 rpm. The transmission is five-speed with a chain final drive. The front suspension is air-assisted forks with front wheel travel of 228 mm, and the rear suspension is a single shock with rear wheel travel of 221 mm. The motorcycle has a single 220mm disc front brake and a drum rear brake. The front and rear tires are 3.00-21 and 5.10-17, respectively. The dry weight is 134 kg, and the wet weight is 163 kg with a fuel capacity of 11.5 Litres. The motorcycle has an average fuel consumption of 46 mpg, and its braking time and top speed are 36 m and 157 km/h, respectively. In the 1990 Motosprint Group Test, the Kawasaki KLR 600 completed the quarter-mile standing in 14.2 sec at 88.5 mph.
