Suzuki RE5 Rotary (1974-76)

The Suzuki RE5 Rotary motorcycle was produced from 1974-76 and had a liquid/oil cooled, single rotary housing engine with a capacity of 498cc/30.4cu in and a compression ratio of 9.4:1. It was equipped with a Mikuni 18-32 HHD carburetor and a dual ignition system, and had both electric and kick starting options. The bike generated a maximum power of 46 kW/62 hp at 6500 rpm and had a maximum torque of 74.5 Nm/7.6 kgf-m/55 lb-ft at 3500 rpm. It had a 5-speed transmission and a Chain final drive. The front suspension had telescopic, oil-dampened forks while the rear suspension was swing arm oil dampened and 5-way adjustable. Front brakes were 2 x Discs while rear brakes were a Drum. It had a fuel tank capacity of 16.8 litres/4.4 US gal/3.7 Imp gal and consumed an average of 7.5 L/100 km/13.3 km/l/31.3 US mpg/37.6 Imp mpg. The bike weighed 230 kg/507 lbs dry and 252 kg/556 lbs wet. It had a top speed of 176 km/h/110 mph and could go from 0-150 km/h/93 mph in 13.9 seconds. The dimensions of the bike were 2220 mm/87.4 in in length, 870 mm/34.3 in in width, and 1170 mm/46.1 in in height, with a wheelbase of 1500 mm/59.1 in and a ground clearance of 170 mm/6.7 in.
