Veloce 3.5 hp (1909-18)

The Veloce 3.5 hp motorcycle was produced from 1909 to 1918 and featured a two-stroke, single cylinder engine with a capacity of 499cc. It had a mechanical lubrication system, Brown and Barlow handle-bar control carburetor, and a Bosch or UH Magneto waterproof type ignition. The bike had a maximum power of 2.6 kW / 3.5 hp and a transmission with a 7/8 inch V-shaped belt, rubber Dunlop, and a belt final drive. The frame was a new design and very strong, with a low position, and the bike featured Druid Patent spring forks for the front suspension and a spring-loaded seat for the rear. The front brake was operated by a Bowden wire and the rear brake was foot-operated. The wheels were spoked and had studded Dunlop 21/4 x 26″ BE tires. The bike had a saddle labeled “XL’ALL” and included a complete tool kit fitted in a tool bag. The tank range was approximately 160 km/100 miles and the bike was enamel black with a decorated tank. A colonial model with extra ground clearance was also available. The Veloce 3.5 hp motorcycle is of historic significance for its innovative features and advanced design for its time.
