The Ducati 250 GT and 250 Monza, produced between 1964 and 1967, were both powered by a four-stroke, single-cylinder, Desmo SOHC, bevel gear-driven engine with a capacity of 248.6 cc. The motorcycles had an air-cooled cooling system and utilized a Dell’Orto UBF24BS carburetor for induction. The 250 GT had a maximum power output of 13.7 kW (18.4 hp) at 7200 rpm, while the 250 Monza produced 16.4 kW (22 hp) at the same rpm. Both models had a wet, multi-plate clutch and a 5-speed transmission with gear ratios ranging from 2.53 to 0.97:1. The final drive was via a chain, with a ratio of 18/45 for the GT and 17/45 for the Monza. The frame was a single downtube, open frame with a large diameter backbone tube, and the suspension consisted of a hydraulic telescopic fork (Ducati 31.5 mm) at the front and a swingarm with dual shocks (Marzocchi) at the rear. Both models had drum brakes, with a 180 mm diameter drum at the front and a 160 mm diameter drum at the rear. The dimensions varied slightly between the two models, with the 250 GT having a length of 2000 mm and a height of 1070 mm, whereas the 250 Monza was slightly shorter at 1960 mm in length, but taller at 1100 mm in height. The seat height for both models was 800 mm, and the dry weight was 125 kg. The fuel capacity was 13 L, and the top speed was 128 km/h (80 mph).
