The Yamaha FZR 600 motorcycle was produced in 1991 and featured a four-stroke, transverse, four-cylinder engine capable of 91 horsepower at 10,500 RPM and 6.7 kgf-m or 48.4 lb-ft of torque at 8,500 RPM. Equipped with 4-valves per cylinder, a 599 cc or 36.6 cu. in engine capacity, and a compression ratio of 12.0:1, the bike could reach a top speed of 237.1 km/h or 147 mph.

A constant mesh six-speed transmission with a wet, multi-disc clutch and an o-ring chain final drive powered the FZR 600. The primary reduction ratio was 82/48 (1.708), and the secondary reduction ratio was 45/15 (3.000). The bike’s frame was a double cradle design, and the front suspension featured a 41mm telescopic fork that was preload adjustable. The rear suspension was a rising-rate monoshock that was preload and rebound adjustable.

Stopping power was provided by two 298mm discs with two-piston calipers on the front and a single 214mm disc with a one-piston caliper on the rear. The bike’s dimensions included a length of 2095mm, a width of 700mm, and a height of 1155mm. The wheelbase measured 1425mm, and the ground clearance was 135 mm or 5.3 in.

The Yamaha FZR 600 had a fuel capacity of 18 liters, and its fuel economy was 5.3 liters/100km, 18.7 km/l, or 43 mpg. Other features of the bike included a transistor-controlled digital ignition, 4 x 38mm Mikuni BDST32 induction, and a wet sump lubrication system. Reviewers at The FZR Archives praised the bike’s handling and top speed capabilities.
