Ducati 851 Strada and Superbike Kit (1988)

The Ducati 851 Strada Tricolore and Superbike Kit was manufactured in 1988 and featured a Four stroke, 90 degrees L twin cylinder, DOHC, desmodromic 4 valves per cylinder, and belt-driven engine with a capacity of 851 cc / 51.9 cu in. It had a liquid-cooled cooling system, Weber I.A.W. CPU P7 electronic fuel injection, and an inductive magnetically triggered ignition. The Strada and Kit models had different compression ratios, with the Kit producing a higher max power of 88 kW / 120 hp @ 10000 rpm compared to the Strada’s 75 kW / 102hp @ 9000rpm. The motorcycle had a dry, multiplate clutch and 6-speed transmission with gear ratios differing slightly between the Strada and Kit models. The bike also featured a tubular steel frame, Marzocchi M1R upside-down fork, Marzocchi Supermono shock, and 2 x 280 mm front disc brakes and a single 260 mm rear disc brake. The Strada and Kit models also had different tire dimensions and weight, with the Kit weighing in at 165 kg compared to the Strada’s 185 kg. The motorcycle was tested by various magazines, including Moto.Revue and Motociclismo, in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
