The Yamaha RD125 was a motorcycle produced in 1978. It had a 124cc, air-cooled, two-stroke parallel twin engine with a compression ratio of 6.8:1. The bike used two 18mm Teikei carburetors, and the ignition was battery coil. The kick-started engine produced 17 horsepower at 8500 RPM and a maximum torque of 1.3 kgf-m at 8000 RPM. The transmission was five-speed and its gears had ratios ranging from 34.52 to 9.11. The bike’s frame was built with steel tubes, and the engine was used as a stressed member. It had 28mm telescopic forks for the front suspension and dual rear shock pre-load that could be adjusted. The front disc brake measured 240mm, whereas the rear drum measured 130mm.
