Triumph Tiger 90 (1937-40)
The Triumph Tiger 90 motorcycle was produced from 1937-40 with a four-stroke, single-cylinder, pushrod-OHV, 2 valve engine and a capacity of 497cc. It had a bore x stroke of 84 x 89mm and a compression ratio of 7.5:1, as well as an air-cooled cooling system and one-into-one chrome exhaust. The bike was kick-started and could reach a maximum power of 18 kW/24 hp. The frame was single downtube with a tubular-steel cradle and it had a 4-speed transmission with chain final drive. The front suspension was a Grider fork with adjustable friction damping, and the rear suspension was rigid with a spring-loaded saddle. Both the front and rear brakes were 200mm single-leading shoe drum with expanding capabilities. The front wheel measured 20 inches and the rear wheel measured 19 inches, both with chrome spokes. The dry weight was 166kg/366lbs and the fuel capacity was 14.8L/3.9 US gal/3.3 Imp gal. The bike had a top speed of 140 km/h or 87 mph and was available in silver sheen, chrome-plate, and with blue pinstripes.
