The Paton 500 (1968) motorcycle has a two cylinder, 4 stroke, twin shaft, DOHC engine with 4 valves per cylinder and a capacity of 498.8 cc. It has a bore and stroke of 73.5 x 57.5 mm, and is equipped with 2 Dell’Orto 40mm PHM carburetors and electronic ignition with variable advance. The bike is air cooled, has a dry, multiplate clutch, and a maximum power output of 47.8 kW/65 hp at 10500 rpm. It comes with a 6 speed transmission and a chain final drive.

The Paton also has a double cradle, open, tubular frame and front telescopic forks hydraulic 25mm suspension. The rear suspension is a tubular swingarm with twin shocks. Front and rear brakes are both drums made by Fontana, with the front brake having four shoes and four cams. The wheels are respectively 1.85 x 18 and 2.15 x 18, with tyres sized at 90/90-18 for the front and 110/80-18 for the rear. It weighs 140 kg/309 lbs, and can reach a top speed of 240 km/h / 149 mph.
