Moto Guzzi 1000SP Spada (1980-82)
The Moto Guzzi 1000SP Spada was a motorcycle built between 1980 and 1982 with a four-stroke, 90-degree V-twin alloy engine mounted longitudinally, with two valves per cylinder and a pushrod valve operation. The bike had a capacity of 949cc and a compression ratio of 9.2:1. It used 2 Dell Orto instruments with mechanical accelerator pumps for induction and a 5.5 pint wet sump for lubrication. The bike had a 12v 32a/h battery charged by a crankshaft-mounted 190w alternator and had a maximum power of 71 hp at 6800 rpm and a maximum torque of 84.3 Nm at 5200 rpm. The bike featured a dry twin-plate diaphragm clutch and a 5-speed transmission with a final drive shaft. The bike had a full-loop duplex cradle in all welded steel tube frame with a 35mm telescopic two-way damped Moto Guzzi tele-fork for front suspension and a pivoted fork with load-adjustable suspension units for rear suspension. The bike had dual front 300mm discs and a single 242mm disc with two-piston calipers for front and rear brakes, respectively. The bike had a 1473mm wheelbase, 762mm seat height, and weighed 244 kg when wet. The fuel capacity was 24 liters with an average fuel consumption of 52 mpg. The bike could reach a top speed of 137 mph and complete a standing 1/4 mile in 14.1 seconds at 91.5 mph.
