Kawasaki GT750 (1982-87)

The Kawasaki GT750 was a high-performance motorcycle produced between 1982 and 1987. It featured a four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder, DOHC engine with a capacity of 738 cc and 2 valves per cylinder. The bike was air-cooled, had a compression ratio of 9.5:1, and was fitted with 4 x 34mm Mikuni BS34 carburetors and CDI ignition for quick starting. The GT750 had a maximum power output of 78 hp/57 kW at 9500 rpm and produced 58.8 Nm/43.4 lb-ft of torque at 7000 rpm. The bike had a 5-speed transmission and a shaft final drive with a gear ratio of 1st 2,333 (35/15), 2nd 1,631 (31/19), 3rd 1,272 (28/22), 4th 1,040 (26/25), and 5th 0.875 (21/24).

The GT750’s frame was built using a double closed steel cradle design, and it had telescopic forks for the front suspension that were capable of providing 160 mm/6.2 in of travel. The rear suspension featured twin shock preload adjustability and provided 98 mm/3.8 in of travel. The brake system comprised two 226 mm discs and one-piston calipers for the front wheels and a single 226 mm disc and one-piston caliper for the rear wheel.

The GT750 had a wheelbase of 1480 mm/58.2 in and a dry weight of 227 kg/500.4 lbs. It had a maximum speed of 187 km/h/116 mph and could do the standing 1/4 mile in 12.5 sec at 171 km/h. The fuel tank capacity was 24.3 litres/6.4 US gallons, and it had a fuel consumption average of 42.5 mph. The bike was reviewed positively by Superbike Magazine in 1989.
