The Honda CBR 1000RR Fireblade, released in 2008, features a four-stroke, transverse four-cylinder DOHC engine with a capacity of 998cc/60.9 cu-in, producing a maximum power of 175.6 hp and maximum torque of 115 Nm. It has a wet, multiplate clutch and a six-speed transmission with #530 O-ring sealed chain final drive. The diamond aluminum composite twin-spar frame features a 43mm inverted HMAS cartridge-type telescopic fork at the front, and a unit Pro-Link with gas-charged HMAS damper at the rear. The bike has a maximum top speed of 286.3 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 10.2 seconds. The 2008 model also features monoblock brakes, a new stubby, side-mounted exhaust, and the first slipper clutch used on a Honda production bike since the RC45.
