Harley Davidson FXSTS (2003-04)

The Harley Davidson FXSTS/I Softail Springer was produced between 2003 and 2004. It had a four-stroke, 45-degree V-Twin engine, with a capacity of 1449cc/88.4 cu-in and a compression ratio of 8.9:1. The engine was mounted with vibration isolation and had pushrod-operated overhead valves, as well as hydraulic self-adjusting lifters. The motorcycle had two valves per cylinder, and a bore x stroke of 95.3 x 101.6 mm. It had a dry sump lubrication system with internally mounted crank-driven gerotor pressure and dual scavenge pump, and a spin-on pressurized oil filter. The FXSTS/I Softail Springer used carburetion 40 mm constant velocity with enrichener and accelerator pump ESPFI 38 mm throttle bore electronic sequential port fuel injection as its induction system. The ignition was a single-fire, non-wasted, map-controlled spark ignition. It had a five-speed transmission and a final drive belt. The frame was a mild steel tubular frame with a rectangular section backbone, stamped, cast, and forged junctions, forged fender supports, and MIG welded. The swingarm was also made of mild steel, with rectangular tube sections, stamped junctions, and MIG welded. The front suspension was a chrome, leading-link, fork for the Springer (R) model, while the rear suspension was hidden, horizontal-mounted and coil-over. The motorcycle had a single 292mm disc with a 2-piston caliper for the front brake and a single 292mm disc with a 4-piston caliper for the rear brake. It weighed 298kg/ 656lbs when dry and 315kg/694.0lbs when wet, and had a fuel capacity of 18.9 litres (5.0 US gallons).
