BSA A65 Seitenwagen Racing (1965-66)
The BSA A65 Sidecar Racing motorcycle was built in 1965-66 with a four stroke, parallel twin cylinder, OHV engine and a capacity of 654 cc/39.9 cub in. It has Amal monobloc 389/67 carburetors, air cooling, a compression ratio of 9.0:1 and a dry sump lubrication system. The engine oil used is SAE 20W/50 and it features a 2-in-1 exhaust, twin coil ignition system and Champion N4 spark plug. The battery is made up of two 12V, 10 a.h. Lucas RM19. The clutch is multi-plate with built-in cush drive and the transmission is four speed with a final chain drive. The frame is made of steel tubing, cradle and adjusted to accommodate the sidecar. The front suspension has telescopic forks with coil springs while the rear suspension consists of a coil spring/hydraulically damped system. The wheels are made of steel with wire spokes. These specifications are generally similar to the A65 R and T/R models. The motorcycle required a running start to activate and its features were perfect for sidecar racing.
