The AJS Model 30 600 motorcycle was produced from 1945 to 1966, featuring a single cylinder, 2 valve per cylinder, pushrod OHV engine with a capacity of 498 c/30.4 cu in. The compression ratio varied from 6.90:1 – 7.24:1 depending on the presence of a compression plate. It had a dry sump lubrication system with a 2.3 L/4.8 US pt oil capacity and used a carburetor type 89B/IAK for induction. Ignition was provided by a Lucas magneto, and it had a kick-start mechanism. It produced a maximum power output of 20.9 kW/28 hp at 5600 rpm and used a 4-speed, Burman gearbox transmission.
