BMW R100GS (1993-96)

The BMW R100GS motorcycle was produced from 1993 to 1996 and was considered a breakthrough for BMW in terms of adventure touring bikes. The R100GS was powered by the same engine that was used in the R100RT, but with some upgrades. The engine displacement was increased and the power and torque outputs were also increased. It had a wet-sump oil system and a five-speed transmission.

One of the most distinctive features of the R100GS was its dual front disc brakes, which set it apart from other adventure touring motorcycles of the time. The R100GS also had a monolever rear suspension system, which provided excellent handling and stability on rough roads.

The R100GS had an adjustable windshield, allowing riders to adjust the height and angle to suit their riding position. It also featured heated handgrips and a comfortable, upright seating position that made it ideal for long-distance touring.

BMW offered several options for the R100GS, including a touring package that included hard saddlebags, a top case, and a touring windscreen. There was also an off-road package that included knobby tires, engine guard, and off-road footpegs.

While the R100GS was only produced for a few years, it quickly became a favorite among adventure touring enthusiasts. Its combination of power, handling, and comfort made it an ideal motorcycle for exploring both on and off-road. Even today, the R100GS remains a popular choice among riders who are looking for a reliable, classic adventure touring motorcycle.
